O MY GOODNESS......Where did time go???

So once again life has ran away with us! Summer ended, Football and school then consumed us, no football has ended (a sad thing for us), and now we are running into the Holidays!

We had a fun Halloween, the kids are doing pretty good---some like school and some DON'T!!! But they are going and doing the best that they can.

Devin is playing the Clarinet and doing actually really well with it. He is the typical "teenager" and technically isn't one yet!! He did a great job playing football this year and has been doing some funs things at school.

Aaron has had some challenges this year, but we sure do love him with all our hearts. He was such a brave kid and spent a week being evaluated to help us determine how to best help him. Aaron has moved to Kristie's (his mom) house in West Jordan to hopefully be able to be successful in all areas. They have some great schools that can meet his special education needs and hopefully will be able to help him excel. Kristie and Chris (her fiance) are able to give Aaron some of the individual attention that he requires and we know will be good for him. Of course we are sad that we will not have him with us as much, but feel that it is what will be in his best interest and will see him as much as we can.

Travis has had a tremendous year! He has matured and grown so much. He loved football and worked so hard to do the best that he could. School this year has been nothing but good reports of grades and behavior. We are so proud of him.

Payson is always a ham and keeps us laughing with his Lady GaGa dancing. He has a little crush on her (I am WORRIED!!) He is struggling a little with his reading and gets frustrated, but he is trying which is all we can ask of him. This was his first year of football and hated everybit of it----yet he keeps telling me that he can't wait until next year????!!!!

Bekah has become a little diva. She has lots of friends and loves being the center of attention. She is doing well in school and really likes it. She cut her hair short (to be "like mom" but we aren't sure which one lol maybe both of us) and to looks way cute---at least I think so. Doing her hair in the morning is a lot easier at least!

Lexie Lou is our glue. She has such a fun personality and keeps us smiling. She is however SO my stubborn child. Yes I take full responsibility for it. But she also is independent and strong willed which I will also take credit for :-) Best of all she is also almost potty trained!!

Evan is hanging in there.....work has kept him busy and more away then we would like. He continues to be a great dad and works hard for us.

WOW did the last two months just fly....we had SO much happen.....Evan came home early, kids got out of school, We lost Grandpa Knight (but Grandma Knight got him back!!), Bekah graduated Kindergarten and had her dance recital, Travis and Aaron got to build their own skateboards and then went to a Skateboard camp, Evan went back to work and then got sent to DC, and I graduated from school!!!!!

Well the month flew away with me again. Not to much going on here. We are counting the days until dad get home and trying to get done with school. We got to have a great Easter break where we got to enjoy some sunshine. We also got to go to the Living Farm in Logan where the kids got to enjoy the animals. Ok Ok.....I am not doing well keeping up on this and many have requested an update so here it is...

My kids totally rock it! They have all been doing so well and dealing with mom trying to finish the last month of school, opening up a new business, and being a little (well maybe A LOT!) grumpy. Each of them are making progress in their personal goals and I am proud of each of them.

This month I got to go to San Diego to be with Brett and Jenni as they became an eternal family. I am so very proud of them! Devin got to ride with my dad and spend some time away from the family craziness. Thanks dad and DeEtte for being so good to him!

Business is slowly but surely growing. We are getting some direction on what we want to accomplish and it feels good. We have some exciting things happening the next couple of months so check out the new listing on the website (http://www.positiveimpactut.com/).

Family Update

What a CRAZY 2009 we have already had! Kids are busy at school and doing pretty good. I opened my office up this month and I am proud to say that I still have hair! We miss Evan terribly and are counting down the days until his return.

I posted some pictures from Molly's wedding below. The kids were SO cute!!! Check Lexie out....she LOVED being "pretty".

It is amazing how fast time flies! I have not posted anything since Evan left and now I am SO far behind. The slide show is a very short view of what we did this month. Evan left the weekend after Thanksgiving for his deployment, the boys had a FABULOUS school event that they were able to show off all of the many things that they have been learning, Aaron had a birthday, then Lexie had a birthday, we got to go to the Earl Christmas party, I gave my two weeks notice and started the process of opening the new office, sadly Grandma Knight (Evan's grandmother) past away the weekend before Christmas so we had a funeral for a wonderful lady, and then the exciting Christmas day came!! WOW! Very short overview!!! All in the kids have been doing really well, Evan is staying safe, I am venturing into a new world of business which I am scared to death and completely excited about all at once, and our family is so amazingly blessed. Thank you for being a part of our life!

We were lucky enough to go to California the week before Evan left. Our family got to visit Brett's home (for a VERY short time) and then spent 3 FUN filled days at Disneyland. Evan and I were at the last minute get a good deal on tickets so we were able to take the kids as a surprise and early Christmas gift. The kids had a lot of fun and it was great to see them enjoying time with Evan. Not without saying I came back needing to go on a Vacation!!

Bekah reminded me that she and I went and did something "crafty" this week. She wants everyone to see what we did.......

Lyndsey had a get together at her house to make scarfs. Bekah saw it on her blog and "had" to go, so I sucked it up and we went. You all know that my "creative" bone is broken so doing anything hands on for me always gets a little sticky. But it was very very easy to do and Bekah ended up with a very cute scarf and some pink hair pieces!

This weekend we kept very busy with a lot of fun activities (Evan is leaving Sunday for a two week training and we wanted him to be able to do as much as possible with them). Friday night we went to the North Ogden pumpkin walk. There were some fun pumpkins and a "haunted forest"....the kids really liked it. On Saturday we went to the Boo Fun on base where the kids got to dress up in their costumes and trick or treat along with doing some fun activities. After that we joined the Datus's, Kristie, and Mandy at Thanksgiving Points Cornbelly's event. The kids had a blast! They got to get lost in a corn maze, see pig races, ride a cow train, do peddle races, jump on a "pillow", slide on large slides, shot paintball guns, do a corn thrower, and more that I can't remember. The adults were exhausted, lol! Enjoy the pictures.......

First Day of School

Well we officially survived the first day of school. Kristie came up to help see the kids off which they were very excited about. I was relieved that she was able to come because you all know my lack of hair abilities and Bekah needed cute hair! All of the kids looked so great in their uniforms and surprisingly the school was fairly organized for the first day of a brand new school. All of the kids really liked their crew teachers and reported some great first day activities. The school is in need of some donations still so if any of you have any gently used books, outside play things (except for bats and hard balls), or any other things that you think a school could use. I would be more then happy to come and get it from you.

Weekly Update

This was a busy week for the kids.....we had the boys scout boat race event, back to school night, and of course football games. The kids had a great week, but both Evan and I became very ill. So needless to say it was a long week for us. But Devin received some new badges and has a goal to get every possible badge like his father did. Aaron and Travis got rewards for their boats which excited them.
We were able to go to Uncle Jay's house to celebrate Grandpa Knight and Scott's birthdays. Lexie had fun playing in the dirt and the kids were having a good time with their Aunts and Uncles. MaiLe and Lexie had alot of fun playing together. We of course had some great food. Thanks Jay and Sheena for having us over!
We have been busily getting ready to start school. I am VERY excited not only because they are back in school and I don't have to listen to the "I am bored" statements. I am also excited about the school they get to go to. They get to go Venture Academy which is a new charter school in Ogden please add us to your prayers. We really think that it is going to meet all of the kids needs and give them new experiences that is different then the average public school can offer them.

First Games....

Football session has officially started. Both Travie and Devin played hard and had fun today. Travie was cute he got a little bored at the game with the waiting to play and said that he likes practice more because he gets to play the whole time. It's fun to watch both the boys get better and enjoy themselves.

School starts in ONE WEEK!! Can you feel my excitement??? All the kids are going to get to go to the same school this year and they are way excited about it. They are going to a new Charter school that has some really great ideas and we are hoping that it is going to be able to meet ALL of the kids. It is smaller then the regular schools and works on a philosophy of working at your level not your age. And no matter what Bekah looks adorable in the uniforms!!

July Events

July has flown by and boy did we have a month of activity! We got to go on a great family trip to Yellowstone with Evan's family. The kids had a great time and it was fun watching them see new things. Payson thought the geyser's were "SO amazing" and Aaron can't stop talking about the chipmunk that they tried to capture. All and all the kids behaved really well and we got to have a really good time with each other.

Aaron started gymnastics this month and is really really good at it. We are so proud of the way he is trying and making improvements every day. Devin and Travie start football this coming week. This will be Travie's first year so we will see how it goes. He really wants to do it so hopefully it will be a good experience for him. Bekah and Payson are still doing gymnastics and will do swimming lessons next month. Lexie is growing so fast! I can't believe how big she is getting and this month she started saying some new words. It's been a lot of fun.

Evan got confirmation that he will deploy the middle of November so we are starting to get things and kids ready for that. We are blessed that he has gotten a "easy" assignment and I am just relieved that he is not going to Baghdad again. He has been enjoying time with the kids and has had a little stress at work but surviving. I am still working with Probation and trying to finish up school. I am now doing my internship along with classes so I am gone a lot of the time. It gets frustrating, but I am SO close to being done!!!!

Sadly I do have to report that Kristie's (Aaron, Travis, and Bekah's mom) father passed away this month from a courageous fight with cancer. The kids are dealing with it fairly well and are glad that he is in heaven and feeling no more pain. Our thoughts are still with Kristie as she goes through this very difficult time.

With that all said I want to let you all know that we are thinking of you and appreciate your blogs so that we can feel like we are a part of your world! Under this is a slideshow of our fun trip. The kids help put it together and they are SO proud!

Well this month has been a month of running around as usual! We have had the opportunity to have Evan's kids come to stay with us full time for awhile which we are all excited about. Travis and Aaron are still going to school for a couple more weeks and the other kids are enjoying summer. We had a great father's day and the kids enjoyed spoiling Evan. He is such a great dad and they love him so much.

We also added a new family member this month. Clay and Kalli had a beautiful girl which they named Mayce Ann. Isn't she incredibly perfect?! We are SO excited for them.

I am still busy with work and school. I have started my internship working as a counselor for a small Counseling office. It has been very exciting and scary all at the same time. I have wanted this type of career forever, but nervous that I don't have the skills and knowledge to be really good at it!

The kids are having a good summer so far. Payson has been playing TBall which has been a lot of fun to watch. He is a character and can be so dramatic.

Devin is looking forward to starting Football and has been taking piano lessons (which he really is good at). Lexie is growing and really has a fun personality and is REALLY stubborn (have NO idea where she got that from.

Bekah starts dancing next week and it is ALL that she has been talking about. Aaron and Travis are trying to decide how they want to spend their time this summer. They are certainly going to keep us busy!! Hope all is well with each one of you.

Things here are staying pretty busy. The kids are out of school and have lots of "plans" for their summer. Last night we go to have Dad, DeEtte, and Clay's family over for dinner and play time. We enjoyed having them and the kids woke up this morning asking when they were coming back!

What an amazing crazy life we live! So I started my job that I LOVE! My boys are now in TBall, Piano, Scouts, Gymnastics, and can't wait to get out out of school. Evan has been traveling for work, he is currently having a once of a lifetime experience in Israel! Travis, Beckah, and Aaron seem to be doing well also. Lexie had a week of sickness that was awful, but is now back to herself. Evan and I thought we would try out for "Deal or No Deal" (check out the pictures below....almost 10 hours in line!!) We took the older boys to a fancy restaurant and we had a great time. I am posting some fun pictures of our last couple of weeks. We love you all. Enjoy!

It has been a week of change (but what's new at my house??) We have been able to have Aaron, Travis, and Bekah for the last couple of weeks. Although it makes our house seem like it's going to burst and a little crazy we have loved every minute of it.

Today I was hired at by the Weber 2nd District Juvenile Court as a Probation Supervision worker. Basically I get to work with mean, snotty teenagers who are in trouble. Just perfect for me! I am SO excited and think that I am going to really enjoy it. Devin is EXTREMELY excited that I am going back to work. I think that he is tired of the "mommy" to do lists :-) Now with that said I am feeling a little guilty about going back to work, but I have really realized that I am not really cut out to be a complete stay at home mom. But also realize that I am a better MOM if I am able to have my own interests.

So if anyone knows of someone who does daycare or who wants to earn some extra money by watching my kids send them my way!!

Well Evan is TDY to Florida (yeah his life is SO hard for him) and so I am playing single mom. Now most kids will tell you all the things that they get away with and the things mom slacks off on when dad is gone. This is what I hear:

Payson: When is Dad coming home? You are NO FUN!!
Devin: Dad cooks better then this, can we eat out?
Bekah: You don't tuck me in right. I want dad.
Travis: Dad would know what to do.
Payson: You are NO FUN! I want dad to come home.
Payson: Your boring. When's dad coming home?

So I guess I am offically boring, no fun, and unable to do anything right. I am feeling SO loved and appreciated. Guess I will have to switch Dad places and lay around a hotel for 3 weeks in beautiful florida (my dream!) I am trying to be grateful that they love him and he has such good relationships with them, but my bitterness is getting in the way. :-)

I had to get a new printer to be able to do all the scanning I have to do for school. Well it is a fabulous machine and prints and scans really well. So I decided that my year project is going to take the pictures that I have of us growing up and scan them so that they are all digital. Yes I am crazy and yes it will take a lot of time, but isn't that what kids are for??

So today the weather was a little blah and we wanted to do a family activity. So the kids worked hard to get their "chores" done and we all piled in the car to go bowling. Got to the bowling alley where there was a TWO HOUR wait for a lane (thank you busy Saturday busyness and Birthday parties). Well I have to say that I was very impressed with the way that ALL of the kids took canceling and changing plans. I forget sometimes what great kids I have and how well behaved they really can be! It started raining and then we started to get snow flurry. So we decided an afternoon at the Carls Jr and a cookie would be the replacement. I know too much fun (please don't be jealous!) But the kids enjoyed getting out and doing something a little different then being at home, so I guess it really doesn't matter what you do if your doing it together!!!

So being unemployed has made me realized how "employed" stay at home moms are! It's been great these past two weeks to do all the things that I have been wanting to do. House is getting REALLY organized instead of just making do, I have gotten to volunteer in all the boys classes (which has been really fun for both them and I), I have gotten to go and help take care of some sick friends, play with Lexie, do extra work with Payson (we are still struggling with ABC's, but he is getting it!), and so much more (including doing my overwhelming load of homework). It has been a lot of fun and very rewarding!

Now with all that said, I still kinda miss working. I know I am crazy, but I guess I am just use to it. I do however get to start my internship next month at a Therapy office in Clearfield and will be doing some in home family therapy support in Box Elder County. I am very excited to start doing the type of work I feel is very important. This new venture, traveling to transport Evan's kids back and forth, going to school twice a week (one night I go to Salt Lake), and everyday run around has taken tole on my mini van and pocket book (gas money). So we started to look for a little car to run around in that would get much better gas mileage and didn't matter if the amount of miles depreciated the value of the vehicle. Well I decided that if I had to drive a little car then I was going to get something "fun", plus Evan picked out the mini van (we ALL know that wasn't me!) so the agreement was that I got to pick out the next vehicle. We found a cute Beetle and got a killer deal on it (guy just bought wife a new expensive jeep and had to get rid of it quickly).

Isn't it cute??? I get to zip around town in this and hopefully save a lot of money in gas! The kids think I am "cool" and Evan and I are already fighting over who gets to drive it. He no longer has to drive the 12 passenger van (which we got rid of) and likes the Turbo engine this has. I can't wait until the weather is warm enough for him to ride his motorcycle so he will leave MY car alone!!!

I want to thank Evan for being such a wonderful man whom I love with all my heart. He makes me smile, lets me be "crazy" sometimes, encourages me to following my dreams (esp when it gets hard and frustrating), and is a really fun dad who loves his kids (which shows in all he does). I am so blessed that I was given the chance to have him in my life.

Family Update

The wonderful thing about the internet is that you are able to link with friends old and new! I have been able to find a lot of old friends who don't know all of the wonderful things tha are going on with myself and my adorable family. So I thought I would give a family update and overview:

Tami and Evan met 2 years ago with the help of our mutual "friend" (aka...LDSSingles.com yes we are an internet success!). We quickly fell in love and were married in June of 2006. We are lucky to have a "bunch" that was formed at that time. Devin (10) and Payson (5) are my sons from my first marriage. Aaron (10), Travis (8), and Bekah (5) are Evan's children from his first marriage. Alexis Ronda (1) is our daughter together. We are so blessed to have each other. I also obtained an amazing family along with a good looking husband. My in-laws are such a huge support and our kids have such fun aunts and uncles. I am also pleased to say that we are also lucky to have my boys paternal grandparents and Aunt involved with their lives! Thank you all for being such a great examples to ALL of our children.

Here's a little about each of us:

Evan is a EOD Staff Stg in the Air Force and is stationed at Hill. He has made us very proud. He plays with bombs and protects our country. He has earned TWO Bronze Stars and works hard for our family. Not to mention that he is HOT in his blue uniform! On his "off" time he is an amazing father whom loves his children and enjoys spending time with him. Evan is a fabulous step father and I couldn't have asked for anything better for my boys. Evan LOVES to fly and dreams of being a pilot after he retires. He is always up for fun and all the kids look forward to "playing" with dad.
I am currently working on my Masters of Counseling at the University of Phoenix. I have been working with Prevent Child Abuse Utah for the past year, but recently quite to be able to double up on school and be more available for the kids. I am a liscensed Social Worker and when I grow up I want to work with moody teenagers (probably my OWN!). I enjoy traveling and have recently found a passion for blogging. I love being with my kids and am so grateful for the wonderful children I have the opportunity to have in my life.
Devin is now 10 going on 21. He is incredibly mature and such a smart kid (sometimes that doesn't work out so well for us!). He is such a great example to all of us and helps keep us focused. He started football last year and I have no doubt Grandma Ronda was cheering him on from above. He was named most improved player and worked very hard. He likes to build things, is artistic (didn't get that from me), and has a real knack for computer things (just like Steve his biological dad).
Aaron is also now 10. He is the "little" guy of our bunch and has the largest personality! He is kind, energetic, and has a spirit like no other. He enjoys Legos, playing with friends, playing any video game, and can run. We are so proud of how hard he tries and for being such a great big brother. He is one of Lexie's favorites (of course he spoils her).
Travis just turned 8 and was baptised. He is incredibly smart and is the comic in the family. He has a memory that will just amaze you and can repeat anything he has heard (so be careful what you say around him!) He loves to draw and has so many talents.
Payson is almost 6 (he HATES being the same age as Bekah) He also hates school and says it is SOOOOO boring. He does love trains, learning how to build things, playing outside (no matter how cold or snowy it is), and anything that keeps him moving. He is "trying" to be nice and has come a long way. He keeps trying and we love him for it!
Rebekah (aka Bekah) just turned 5 and is the diva of the house. She will easily draw you in and before you know it your cleaning her room (she doops Devin all the time into doing stuff for her), she has a smile that is beautiful, and a giggle that makes you instantly giggle with her. She is very quick to learn and loves to be with with her Grandma Knight.
Alexis (aka Lexie) just turned 1. She is a very easy going child, whom is enjoyable to be with, and is not overly demanding (which is so lucky since she has to compete with 5 others). She tries so hard to do what the big kids are doing and has been so much fun to have as part as our family.

Our family enjoys being together, playing games, visiting family, reading, and just about anything that keeps us going. As the kids start to get older I realize that my life is not as busy as it will be in 5 years when I am trying to get them all to where they need to be.

We recognize that we are incredibly blessed and enjoy a very wonderful life together!! Thank you to all of you for being a part of this crazy life with us.

So tommorrow will be my first official day of being unemployed. Now you would think that I would be overjoyed, but I seriously am having a panic attack over it. I have started to double up on my school classes which hopefully will allow me to finish school about 9 months earlier. I get to volunteer at the kids schools and spend time with Lexie. I am excited about that, but I have always had to juggle things with a job that I am out of my comfort zone. I have no doubt that I will find plenty to do to fill up my days! So if your bored during the day think of me and give me a call!!! Love you all.

Payson stuck in our front yard!
Too cold for Lexie to go out so Payson was throwing snow balls at her! She LOVED it. She would giggle and make the sign for "more" to him.

The snow was up to the top of the trampoline frame. Payson was trying to play but kept getting stuck. Of course being the great mom I am I grabbed the camera, took pictures, and laughed at him. After that wasn't fun anymore I sent Devin out to pull him out.

Lexie Lou

Was downloaded pictures and found these. Thought I would share. Lexie no longer will sit and eat in a highchair or anything that holds her down. Therefore she sits (actually usually stands) at the table with the other kids. She smiles and thinks she is such a big girl! This was saturday breakfast and she was given syrup (thanks dad!) for the first time. I think that she may have liked it a little.....

Sunday Snow Day

Today the snow was bad enough that Church was cancelled (don't think that has happened to me before). Of course the kids were not too sad, until they learned that we would just have "home" church instead. Now I wasn't crazy enough to make them endure listening to me for 3 hours, but we did have a little lesson then played family games. I think overall it was a good day had by all.

Travis's Special Day

Travis made us all proud Sunday by choosing to be baptised. He was so excited. Uncle Scott performed the Baptism and Grandpa Knight confirmed him. They both did a great job and we appreciate their willingness to participate. After the baptism we all squeezed into our little house for some of Travis's favorite treats. I know that Travis enjoyed being the "star" for the day and loved all of the attention. Thank you to all of you that were able to come and those that sent their congrats!!

Now that Christmas is over and things have calmed down (as much as they do at our house!) I thought I would update things a little here.

We had a fabulous Christmas! The kids were spoiled and we were able to get a WII as our family gift. The kids of course love it, although I think that Evan might like it even more (guitar hero makes him feel like a rock star!)

The kids are back in school. Devin got his report card (all A's and a "few" A-'s) we are so proud of him. Payson is plugging away and goes to school without complaining about it which is an improvement. Travis and Aaron continue to work hard. Bekah so desperately wants to be in school!

We were able to enjoy some "together" time yesterday with Brett and Jenni here....had to add a little preview of what we got to enjoy.....

We missed having Cindy there!! Maybe one day we will be able to arrange for all of us to be in the same place at the same time! The kids enjoyed some time together, we played mom's traditional candy bar game, ate good food, got some exciting news from Clayton and Kalli, and simply laughed. Christmas Time

So I started this blog and then got busy with other things.........I know....nothing new! Thought I would update everyone with what is going on in our little part of the world. Lexie had her first birthday (where did the year go???). She is getting big and is so much fun. All of the kids are great with her and she is trying so hard to keep up with them. Here's a picture of her at her birthday party. It's amazing how big she has gotten. I went and got her ears pierced......I know MEAN mom, but they are so cute and not one person has called her a boy since!

Evan is home from Washington DC where he spent 6 weeks "working" (messing around on tax dollars is what I would call it). We are all excited about being able to have our first "real" Christmas together. I am thinking that he may be in Iraq again next year so we are enjoying him and the kids as much as possible. Probably over doing it, but we are having fun and the kids love every minute.

I am still plugging away at obtaining my master's in counseling degree. I finally called "uncle" on trying to work, do school full time, AND having a family. Therefore I gave my notice to work. Although I will miss it (and the paycheck!) it will be nice to be able to focus on my family needs and still get my school work completed. If all goes well this should be my last year and then I will be set loose on the unexpected therapy clients........It looks like I will have an opportunity to work with teenage foster kids which I am incredibly excited about doing.

What else.....Devin continues to be smarter then he should be! Aaron is doing very well and having success in school (we are very proud of all of his hard work). Travis is keeping everyone busy with his continuous jokes and also thinks he is "smarter then a fifth grader"! Payson has finally adjusted to the tough world of Kindergarten. Although he still prefers staying home then going to school he is doing so much better. Bekah continues to make us all smile and is such a wonderful big sister. She is so excited to go to school next year. As mentioned above Lexie is growing too fast.

Dinosaur Park

Family day at the dinosaur park was of course one of the kids favorite trips. Devin, Aaron, and Travis were are to keep up with. Payson and Bekah just wanted to play on the playground, but enjoyed looking for the "scary" stuff that was around the park for Halloween. Lexie had her first swing ride which she loved! Evan of course wanted to read all of the information and the kids wouldn't slow down for him to do so (I am sure he might return by himself to gather the information!). Lexie and Bekah enjoyed being pampered by being pulled in the wagon. I was wishing I could have a ride.
